Daybreak, Eventide, Reverie, Idyll and Solitude
are large art tiles that were inspired by
grouted tiles made by the Hartford Faience Co.
and Moravian Tile Works during the Arts & Crafts
era. Black grout defines the shapes and enhances
the mosaic effect.
The three largest mosaic tiles (Daybreak,
Eventide, and Reverie) consist of multiple
sections and border pieces mounted on a rigid
support or wall and grouted. The two smaller
tiles (Solitude and Idyll) are single tiles,
with grout applied to incised lines between
colors.
Eventide Mosaic Style Art Tile
This art tile mosaic Eventide is designed as
a companion piece to Daybreak but is also
available separately. Eventide is an Arts and
Crafts design from ca. 1910, originally created
by the Hartford Faience Company; here reproduced
with a few minor changes.
Eventide consists of several tile sections plus
numerous border pieces, mounted securely to a
rigid support or wall. Black grout defines the
shapes and enhances the mosaic effect. Eventide
has the look and feel of a carefully
pieced-together image, much like a stained glass
window, but made of tile.
The tile mosaic measures approximately 21 3/4"
high by 13 1/2" wide. The tiles are 1/2" thick.
When mounted on a support, the entire piece is
approximately 1" thick.
Options:
We can create a customized Eventide tile mosaic
in colors of your choice. This image is only an
example. Options include changing the hair
color, the flower color, the garments and the
sky effects. The border tiles can also be made
in a range of glaze colors.
Eventide is available unmounted and without
grout. It comes in 4 sections plus 17 separate
border tiles. You may install it in a location
of your choice and apply your own grout and tile
sealer. (Note: black grout is required to
achieve the mosaic look.)
If you prefer, we can mount the tiles on a piece
of rigid 1/2" plywood with tile adhesive. We
will grout the tiles using black grout and ship
it to you as a completed unit. You may then
frame it or install it in your home.
